Purpose and Objectives of the Program

The primary objective of the Local Authorities Program is to raise prospective administrators who are well-versed in the fundamental principles, strategies, and techniques of contemporary local government science, and equipped with analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. It aims to meet the qualified personnel requirements of both public institutions (particularly local governments) and private sector organizations. Furthermore, the program seeks to address the administrative challenges of the region and provide educational opportunities for local youth in this field.

Local authorities, especially municipalities, play a vital role in the development of our country. In order to fulfill these critical responsibilities, municipalities must be strong not only organizationally and financially, but also in terms of human resources. This department aims to cultivate the human capital needed to bridge this gap in the field.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Local Authorities Program find employment opportunities in both local and central public institutions. Notably, as a result of the internships completed over two semesters, many of our students are employed as contracted personnel within these organizations. In addition to securing employment in Municipalities, Special Provincial Administrations, and District Governor's Offices (Kaymakamlık), our graduates are also employed in departments such as personnel affairs, editorial affairs, public relations, and human resources across various public institutions.

Vertical and Horizontal Transfer Opportunities

Students who graduate with an associate degree from the Local Authorities Program can apply to undergraduate programs in Public Administration, Political Science, and Political Science and Public Administration at universities through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).

Additionally, graduates of this program can directly transfer to undergraduate programs in Political Science, Public Administration, or Political Science and Public Administration at Anadolu University's Open Education Faculty without being required to take the DGS.

Examination-Free Admission

Students who graduate from the Local Authorities departments/tracks of Vocational and Technical Secondary Education Institutions can be admitted to the Local Authorities associate program without an examination.
